The Chevrolet SS may go out with a bang.

Rumor has it that the 2017 Chevrolet SS might receive a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine packing around 580 horsepower as a way to bid the car farewell.

The future of the Chevrolet SS is still unclear, but the model as we know it will end with the 2017 model year. If the powerplant sounds familiar, that’s because it is the same 6.2-liter supercharged V8 mill found in the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and Cadillac CTS-V models.

It was announced in late 2013 that Holden would cease its manufacturing operations in Australia in 2017, but will continue to have a significant presence in the country with a national sales company, a national parts distribution center and a global design studio.

The current Chevy SS uses a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 that makes 415 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque.
