Lexus GX – Review, Specs, Pricing, Features, Videos and More
Find everything you need to know about the Lexus GX here, along with expert reviews, specs, photos, videos and more.
The Lexus GX is a bit of an anomaly in the luxury SUV world. It’s one of the few body-on-frame hold-outs, but is not a full-size offering like the Cadillac Escalade, Infiniti QX80, or even Lexus’ own LX. Based on a platform shared by the LX and Tundra, the GX now uses a 3.4-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine.
The GX is one of the more off-road orientated luxury SUVs as well, ready to tackle trails that would leave lesser machines trembling.

Lexus GX Overview
The 2026 Lexus GX, a carryover from the previous model year, is a body-on-frame luxury SUV available in six grades: Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail, and Overtrail+. With a starting price of $66,935, it is built on the GA-F ladder-frame platform, which provides body rigidity for both on-road handling and off-road durability.
All GX models are powered by a 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 349 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a standard full-time four-wheel-drive system, enabling a maximum towing capacity of 9,096 pounds. The drivetrain includes a Torsen limited-slip locking center differential for consistent power distribution.
For enhanced capability, the Overtrail and Overtrail+ grades are equipped with an electronically controlled locking rear differential, a one-inch suspension lift, and the Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (E-KDSS) to improve wheel articulation. Inside, the GX features a standard 14-inch touchscreen with the Lexus Interface, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Seating for up to seven is available. Every 2026 GX includes the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite of active safety and driver assistance features as standard equipment.
2024 Lexus GX 550 First Drive Review: Lego (Over)Land
I had two favorite Lego sets growing up: a pizzeria, and a bridge crossing complete with off-roady truck.
This explains a lot. The crippling addiction to pizza isn’t exactly relevant here—but that yellow truck? I loved it. Way before I had a license, that was the first vehicle I really tinkered with. Throwing on race car tires for that street truck look was fun, as was crafting bed covers. But it was the stock setup that fascinated me. The articulated suspension and knobbly tires screamed adventure.

The 2024 Lexus GX Hands-On Preview: The Start Of A Luxury Off-Road Era For Lexus
The 2024 Lexus GX leans into its off-road credibility.
The Lexus GX has been a model that’s simultaneously loved, but also a very dim spot in the manufacturer’s lineup. It’s beloved by off-road enthusiasts because of the things it can do off-road, but the interior, styling, and powertrain have been dated. The latest GX fixes all of that with a modern engine, new tech, and more refinement, without sacrificing the off-road ability that the GX is known for.
