2012 Mercedes SLK Priced From $54,800; CLS From $71,300

New retail prices have been revealed for the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK convertible/hardtop and CLS models.

The former, which has received a new 3.5-liter direct injected V6 with multi-spark ignition technology, rated at 302-hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, will sticker at $54,800, while the CLS, which has been extensively revamped for ’12 will start at $71,300 in 550 form, with the CLS63 AMG version will retail for $94,900.

Despite the nomenclature, both U.S. bound CLS models will receive new engines, the former a twin-turbo 4.7-liter V-8 rated at 402 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, will the AMG model gets the 5.5-liter twin turbo bent-eight, delivering a staggering 518 hp and 516 lb-ft, likely enough to move California Redwoods.

According to an official release from Mercedes-Benz USA, the 2012 CLS is slated to go on sale this summer. The company is also keen to point out that the prices listed for these two models, exclude delivery charges, taxes and other fees.
