Flashy, fast or luxurious cars tend to be expensive. It should come as no surprise then that they’re also among the most expensive cars to insure.

This list, provided by Insure.com shows us the most expensive cars to insure. Whether they’re more likely to get into an accident because of their high-powered engines, more likely to be stolen, or they’re just expensive to make and maintain, these cars cost quite a lot to insure.

How can a hybrid cost so much to insure? When it’s a BMW 750Li Active Hybrid, which has a twin-turbo V8 and starts at $101,000 it’s easy to see why this big BMW lands in 10th place on the list.

AMG, the in-house Mercedes-Benz tuning arm, helps turn serene Mercedes models into, well, things like this. With 621 horsepower the CL65 AMG gets to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. Pair that with the car’s $211,000 price tag and this thing is a insurance company’s dream come true.

Oh, the timeless Porsche 911 Turbo S. One of the most historic cars, and with a 530 horsepower, six-cylinder in the back, also one of the quickest. We just hope you can afford the insurance. Although, if you can stomach the $172,000 price tag, you can probably make the insurance payments too.
Who needs all the flash of a Turbo S when you can save some money and get the regular 500-horsepower 911 Turbo? At $149,000 you get a cheaper entry fee into the 911 Turbo club than the S, but you still have to pay the same insurance rates.
Our second hybrid on the list belongs to… yes, another BMW 7-series. This one however, ditches the extended wheelbase, and nets you a cheaper base price. At $97,000 it starts to look like a better option than the 750Li Hybrid, but make sure you check with your insurance, because it seems like the regular old 7-Series owners pay more than their long wheelbase friends.
The Panamera proved to be quite a popular model for Porsche. Even with the $136,000 price tag thousands of people still bought the Turbo model, which is the second most popular version of the Panamera. With its 4.8L V8 making 493 horsepower, its easy to see why its so popular.
The V8 Audi R8 doesn’t cost too much in comparison to it’s other super-car buddies. At “just” $138,000 it might just be like the most affordable 430-horsepower mid-engine V8 supercar you can get. But then you have to consider how much it probably costs to repair. That’s probably why theses things cost so much to insure.
S 250 CDI ( W221 ) 2010
Yet another twin-turbo V8 luxury sedan makes the list! The Mercedes-Benz S600’s big 510 horsepower engine can whisk you away as easily as anything else on this list. The S-class has always held a reputation for being a super luxurious cruiser. With a starting price of $159,500, it also has the reputation for being quite expensive. It’s ranking here doesn’t do much to change that.
CL 600 ( C216 ) 2010 Modellpflege
The Mercedes-Benz CL600 is kind of expected here. Since it’s just a lighter, faster, two-door version of the already expensive S600, its hard to be surprised that it costs more to insure than its four-door brother.
The top spot here is taken by the V10, convertible version of the Audi R8, which landed in the #4 spot. Why would a car like the R8 5.2 Spyder cost so much to insure? Well it is flashy, fast, and fictional billionaire super-hero Tony Stark has one! With a price tag of $187,000 and a 525 horsepower engine that teleports you to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds.
