2003 Honda Odyssey.

Honda Motor Co. has announced that it is recalling about 318,000 Odyssey minivans and 56,000 Acura MDXs in the US regarding problems with the airbag control unit.

The issue affects Oddysseys from the 2003 and 2004 model year and strictly 2003 MDXs. A malfunctioning computer chip in the airbag control unit can cause the airbags to inadvertently deploy when it receives electrical noise from other parts of the vehicle. To remedy the problem, Honda will install an electrical noise filter.

No crashes have been reported as a result of this issue, but some minor injuries have occurred thanks to unexpected airbag deployment.

The fix will take about an hour, and it will be performed free of charge by a Honda technician. For more info, contact Honda at (800) 999-1009.
