Ford Retains Top Customer-Loyalty Title

Ford still has the most customer loyalty anywhere in the auto industry according to the IHS Automotive Loyalty Awards.

The American brand kept the title for the 2014 model year while Maserati takes the top award for the most conquest sales. To determine this, IHS looked at 16.5 million new-vehicle registrations and among those, Ford has the highest amount of returning customers. This is the fifth year in a row that Ford has taken the top honor.

Maserati managed to steal the most customers away from other brands, not surprising considering the massive 171.5 percent spike in sales the brand saw last year. Lexus was the most improved when it comes to conquest sales.

Looking at individual nameplates, the Honda Accord captured the most repeat customers in the nonluxury traditional midsize car category. For compact cars, the Nissan Leaf attracted the most repeat business. In the half-ton pickup category, the Chevy Silverado has the most loyal customers, while the Jeep Grand Cherokee took top honors in the nonluxury midsize SUV category.
