Alfa Romeo has its sights set on hunting high-performance German sedans.

Introduced to the U.S. at the 2015 L.A. Auto Show, the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio isn’t just stunning, but it’s fast… really fast. The Italian automaker claims that the Giulia Quadrifoglio holds the Nurburgring record for fastest four-door production sedan with a lap time of 7:39 and considering it’s powered by a Ferrari-sourced twin-turbo V6 engine, we’re not surprised. The 2.9-liter mill produces an impressive 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, allowing the sedan to go 0-60 in just 3.8 seconds.

Combine that with massive Brembo brakes, stylish 19-inch wheels and near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution and we have a feeling the Giulia Quadrifoglio will be worth its price tag of around $70,000.

If that’s too much for your wallet, Alfa Romeo also announced in Los Angeles that the standard Giulia model will be priced around $40,000 and will be equipped with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 276 hp.

Twice the price of a Subaru WRX, about the same performance, but with luxury and FIAT reliability.

How is 505HP the same performance as a WRX? A wrx is at 258 and an STi at 305HP. Don't get me the wrong, the SUBARU's are amazing cars and currently my options for my next vehicle. However, as good as the STI and WRX perform and handle, the GIULIA destroyed every production sedan on the Nurburgring. It no doubt will have some amazing handling capabilities and that engine can no doubt be modded to pump out way more power than the STI. I agree, I am worried about its reliability and how it will hold its value, but so far on Paper this car seems to be amazing in every aspect. Yes, the price will be over the $70K mark. They will be bringing though a 30-$40K Version with a 4Cylider turbo and about 280HP. RWD or AWD. At this point, yes the SUBI would be the best option, hell the SUBI may even compete with the V6 Twin Turbo Alfa, but just as the SUBI has loads of modding potential so will the Alfa.

Should be the best sports sedan next to the ATS and XE.
