The 2017 Subaru Impreza made its debut at the 2016 New York Auto Show.

Riding on the all-new Suburu Global Platform, the 2017 Subaru Impreza will be available in sedan and five-door styles when it launches in late 2016. According to the Japanese automaker, the new platform helps increase driving pleasure, agility, crash protection and ride comfort. Eventually, Subaru will use it to underpin various models in its lineup including hybrids.

Compared to its predecessor, the 2017 Subaru Impreza is now 1.6 inches longer with a 0.4-inch lower ride height that improves aerodynamics and its coefficient of drag.

There aren’t any major powertrain changes for the new model, although the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine has been tweaked to now provide 152 horsepower, a bump of four hp. Advanced safety features include Subaru’s EyeSight system, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic pre-collision braking and lane departure and sway warning. Available as options are blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert.

Pricing for the 2017 Subaru Impreza will be announced closer to its launch.

The hatch looks drab and boring. Not impressed. The sedan is a slight improvement cosmetically BUT no longer is a manual available. And I don't drive CVTs.

Really? AutoGuide or Autoblog or some website said it wasn't coming. If it comes in a manual, it will likely be my next vehicle. Would love a new Tacoma, BUT not nearly as practical as an AWD Impreza. Particularly, for my true needs. And 40k vs 25k is also a big difference. I just don't trust CVT transmissions.

Although a bit conservative, not bland by the way, I like the looks better than the previous model.
