Storied racing manufacturer Brabham is being revived with a new road car bearing the company’s name, and the track-ready supercar has now been teased with a fly-by video.

The video shows the Brabham BT62 supercar speeding down a straight as it’s filmed from a pit wall. The supercar has a loud, aggressive V8 growl, but it’s hard to make out what kind of V8 it is. We think it sounds a bit like General Motors Small Block, but we’re hoping Brabham’s opted to use something a bit more original than that.

In a statement, Brabham described the BT62 as a racing-inspired, driver-focused car.

“Unquestionably fast but about far more than outright speed, the Brabham BT62 is resolutely focused on uncompromising performance, handling and driver involvement,” it said. “Born from a unique and historic racing pedigree, Brabham Automotive’s first car has been designed and engineered to demand more from the driver and reward the limited few who will rise to its challenge.”

The Brabham name was originally applied to a series of racing cars and is attributed to company founder and three-time Formula 1 world champion Sir Jack Brabham. Its final Formula 1 car was the Brabham BT60B, an evolution of the BT60 that was introduced for the 1991 F1 season.

It’s not yet clear when Brabham may show the BT62, but we wouldn’t be shocked to see it appear shortly before the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June, which has quickly become a good place for automakers to debut or showcase new products introduced in the summer.
