Porsche Announces Racing Scholarship Program for Carrera Cup GB

To help those aspiring to compete in the Porsche Carrera GB Championship, Porsche Cars GB has created a scholarship program that awards two lucky young race car drivers. Each scholarship is worth £50,000 (around $77,655 US), which is definitely a nice chunk of change to go racing with.

In order to be eligible, the drivers must be between 17 and 22 years of age on January 1st, 2011 and must already have a National A race license. Oh and they must also have never participated in a previous Carrera Cup GB. Even though there’s no charge for the drivers to apply for the scholarship, they must show that they can secure the remaining balance of the required budget to do a full season of racing.

Applicants can submit their information via email and six will be chosen for a two-day test at Silverstone. One of the days will be spent at the Porsche Experience Centre and the other behind the wheels of a 450-hp 911 GT3 Cup race car. From there the judges will select the two fortunate scholarship winners and off to racing they will go! Good luck to all that enter.

Full press release available after the break.
