BMW‘s 1 Series M Coupe is one of the brand’s most anticipated models, and a series of carefully orchestrated leaks has only served to whet the appetite of enthusiasts.

The car is set to debut at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, but BMW has given us some information nuggets ahead of the unveiling. Power will come from a variant of the turbo inline six from the Z4 sDrive35iS, making 340 horsepower through a 6-speed manual transmission.

The best part is that the car will weigh 3300 lbs, ensuring a solid power-to-weight ratio. At $45,000, the 1 Series M Coupe won’t be cheap, but no doubt will be an enticing package for well-heeled enthusiasts not quite ready to step up into the increasingly bloated M3.
