With f irst photos of the 500X having been teased, Fiat has now confirmed the sub-compact crossover will be sold in North America.

Set to hit dealerships in 2014, likely as a 2015 model year car, the 500X will expand the current Fiat lineup with now includes the original 500, the 500C and 500 Abarth and will soon also include the 500L and an electric version of the 500.

While wearing the 500 moniker, it won’t be based on the 500 at all, but rather on the larger Punto sub-compact. With a length of 165 inches, it will be just 2-inches longer than the 500L.

In addition to this car, Chrysler will also sell a new sub-compact Jeep model in the near future, sized below the Compass and Patriot.
