Volkswagen is recalling 2,471 Beetle vehicles for a faulty airbag control module, which may fail to function properly if it gets wet.

In model year 2012 Beetles equipped with leather sport seats, the front-right passenger-airbag module will fail to detect a child seat restraint if it gets wet. If a child seat is installed, the airbag will not turn off, so in the event of a collision the deploying airbag may cause harm to the child.

Volkswagen will contact owners and replace the airbag module free of charge to the consumer. For more information, contact Volkswagen at (800) 822-8987.
