2014 Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain Not Receiving EAssist
Contrary to previous reports that the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain will be offered with eAssist hybrid variants, General Motors has confirmed that neither model will receive the mild hybrid technology for the 2014 model year.
Earlier, reports had both SUVs receiving the American automaker’s light electrification system and 2014 VIN cards that were leaked confirmed those rumors. However, GMC communications manager Joe LaMuraglia has confirmed that the Equinox and Terrain will not be benefiting from eAssist.

Speaking with GMInsideNews, LaMuraglia also stated that the 2014 VIN cards were a placeholder and not intended to be seen by the general public. It’s unknown if it’s a recent change of plans by the automaker, but it appears that eAssist won’t be heading to the Equinox or Terrain, at least not for the 2014 model year.
General Motors’ eAssist utilizes a small, lithium-ion battery in the truck paired with a small electric motor to assist in powering the vehicle under light load or when the vehicle is stopped.

Bummer. I read about this and was all excited but just now found out they are NOT in fact receiving E-Assist. Before I bought my Prius this past September, I test drove the 2012 Equinox...could have gotten it for a song and dance at the year-end clearances but the mpg's sucked. Was a life long GM vehicle owner. If they would come out with an E-Assist in the Equinox, I'd seriously consider one.
