Subaru is exploring every avenue for fuel efficiency with its new diesel-hybrid Viziv concept.

Showcasing the future of Subaru’s powerplants, the Viziv features a 2.0L flat-four diesel engine, that’s mated to a CVT engine, and two electric motors. Also, this isn’t your usual hybrid setup, as the Subaru uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain. That means that the diesel engine can also generate power for the battery depending on the driving situation.

The name is inspired by the phrase “Vision for Innovation,” expressing the automaker’s vision of future innovation and the next step for the brand.
