An electric version of BMW’s compact X1 crossover was just spied testing, although plans for the car aren’t clear.

For example, this could be an electric version of the current X1, or it could also be a test mule for an EV version of the next generation. Electric cars are proving to be slow sellers among the North American market, but Toyota is collaborating with Tesla to build an electric version of the RAV4.

This could be the same electric drivetrain already seen in the i3. In the micro EV, that system will be able to carry the car between 80 and 100 miles in its normal drive mode while an “Eco Pro Plus” mode will add another 25 miles to that range.
