Williams to Supply Batteries to Formula E Cars
The all-electric racing league known as Formula E will begin taking to race tracks around the world next year, and Williams Advanced Engineering is the latest company to sign on as a supplier for the cars.
Williams Advanced Engineering has been tapped by Spark Racing Technology to supply the batteries for the new fully-electric SRT_01E cars. Formula E Holdings, the consortium that holds the commercial rights to the championship, has already ordered 42 cars from Spark Racing Technology.
The transmission, electronics and powertrain for the cars will come from McLaren, while Renualt will be responsible for optimizing the electronics and performance of the powertrain. Finally, Italian company Dallara will supply the chassis.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Spark Racing Technology to introduce our battery technology into their cars for next year’s FIA Formula E Championship,” said Kirsty Andrew, Head of Commercial Operations, Williams Advanced Engineering.
