2014 Acura MDX Trailer Hitch Harness Kit Recalled

Honda is recalling 652 trailer harness kits that were sold to be used on 2014 Acura MDX crossovers because of a problem with the wiring.

Incorrect wiring in the trailer hitch sub harness can prevent power from reaching the trailer brake controller. That means that the trailer brakes are not used at all, making the stopping distance of the vehicle much longer as it must stop with only the on-board brakes.

Only hitch kits marked with the part number 08L91-TZ5-200 are affected, and only 340 have actually been installed on vehicles so far in the U.S. Honda will notify affect customers, and Acura dealerships will fix the wiring issue free of charge.
