Audi Sport Quattro Concept Might See Limited Run

There could be more to look forward to when Audi unveils its Sport Quattro concept in Frankfurt next month.

Rumored to carry a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 mated with an electric motor for a shocking 0-60 sprint around three seconds, the 2+2 sports car might actually become a real car. A new report by Automotive News citing an anonymous company source suggests the car might see low-volume sales.

The timing is in line, given that the concept will mark the 30th anniversary of the original Sport Quattro. Currently, official information about the concept from Audi is limited to design sketches seen here, which were released last week.

Other unofficial details about the car include use of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and output above 600 hp. The concept is also said to be based on Audi’s MLB platform, which currently underpins the A7 hatchback as well as its more athletic siblings. There isn’t long to wait until the concept is unveiled and more details trickle out.
