Reaction to the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel has been so positive that the American automaker is unsure if it will be able to keep up with demand.

Speaking at an event in California, Ram marketing boss Dave Sowers said the reaction to the EcoDiesel model has been impressive to say the least. According to Sowers, “the level of enthusiasm that we have heard from consumers and consumers via our dealers has been almost unprecedented.”

The American automaker initially believed that the EcoDiesel Ram 1500 model would be around 10- to 15-percent take-rate to begin, but admits that it now faces the dilemma of being limited by production.

The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel was announced in June with a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine with 240 hp. Last year, it is estimated that Ram sold about 194,000 light-duty trucks, which means Ram’s initial estimate of EcoDiesel models in demand would be around 19,400 to 29,500. But Ram sales are up 20 percent this year and the introduction of the EcoDiesel model looks to improve on that figure. Pricing for the Ram EcoDiesel starts at $29,795 including delivery.
