The Mercedes-Benz C-Class family will be growing with a plug-in hybrid variant.

Caught by AutoGuide.com‘s spy photographers, the C-Class plug-in hybrid was recently seen undergoing tests in Germany. Currently, Mercedes only offers hybrid variants of its E- and S-Class sedan models, but that will change in the near future with the new C-Class plug-in hybrid, which will directly compete with BMW‘s 3 Series hybrid model.

Both the C-Class sedan and wagon will be getting plug-in hybrid variants, as seen in these spy photos, but the wagon will not be offered in the U.S. Expect the plug-in hybrid C-Class to make its debut this year as a 2015 model.
