Mazda may be prepping not just one, but two new RX models.

According to a recent report, there’s a possibility that the Japanese automaker is working on both a new RX-7 and an RX-9. Previously, we reported that the new RX-7 is scheduled to launch in 2016, but it is more likely that the company will bring it to production a year later in 2017, which also celebrates the 50th birthday for the rotary. As for the rumored RX-9, the Japanese automaker teased that is certainly wants to do something special for its 100th anniversary.

Mazda’s General Manager of Global Sales and Marketing, Yasuhiro Aoyama, wouldn’t say outright that the company is working on both vehicles, but did state that 2020 would also mark the Tokyo Olympics, which means the country of Japan will have the entire world watching it.

Unfortunately, until Mazda brings out a concept of either models, we’ll just have to hope for the best.

Mazda made $1.88 Billion in profits last year with those sweet new cars they have (CX-5, 6 and 3) so I believe BOTH of these cars are coming. Now that Ford doesn't have their hands around their necks, those boys from Hiroshima are doing it big! Welcome back Mazda!
