NHTSA Expanding Alert for Massive Airbag Recall
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) wants to reiterate how important the recent airbag recall is.
Federal regulators will expand their recall alert that covers nearly 12-million vehicles worldwide in hopes that owners won’t ignore notices issued by automakers. Approximately 70 percent of vehicle owners respond to recall notices and the rate typically falls off on older models, like those covered in this airbag call-back.

NHTSA issued a new warning today, telling owners to follow the instructions of the recall and to take their vehicle to the dealership immediately if it’s affected. In the U.S. about 4.7-million vehicles have been impacted by this massive airbag recall. The number of vehicles with potentially defective airbags is expected to grow as this on-going investigation continues.
