Mercedes-AMG is reportedly planning its second standalone model.

The new sports sedan will be based off the next-generation CLS, but it will take its powertrain, performance and styling from the new AMG GT. That means that a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 will live under the hood. The engine is expected to be offered in two flavors, packing 500 hp in the base car and around 600 hp in the S model.

The four-door sports car will take on the Porsche Panamera and Audi A7 and it may be called the GT4 according to Autobild. It will feature adaptive air suspenion, an electronic locking differential, dynamic engine mounts and carbon ceramic brakes, most of which will be sourced from the E 63 AMG S.

A new generation of CLS will debut in 2018, so the new Mercedes-AMG Panamera fighter is expected to debut sometime in 2019.
