An additional 156,000 vehicles have been added to the Ford door latch recall.

The expansion comes at the request of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The issue is a faulty door latch which may result in the door opening up unintentionally. Ford knows of two incidents related to the issue, one where the unlatched door opened and bounced back, hitting a customers arm, while the second incident saw a door swing open and hit another car in a parking lot.

Ford dealers will replace all four door latches free of charge to consumers.
