Next BMW 4 Series Convertible Going Soft Top Only

The next-generation BMW 4 Series Convertible is getting rid of its hardtop roof in favor of cloth.

The current car adopted the folding hardtop back in 2007, but when the new 4 Series arrives around 2020 or 2021, the car will only be available with a soft cloth roof.

Performance is expected to be significantly enhanced in the new 4 Series and ditching the roof panels will help the car lose weight to enhance its sportiness. Expected enhancements include adjustable anti-roll bars, larger brakes, active steering and brake-based torque vectoring. Aluminum and carbon fiber wheels are also expected to be available on the new 4 Series.
