Hyundai Brings Six Wicked Rides to Las Vegas

Hyundai teamed up with six talented industry builders for some unique creations at the 2015 SEMA Show.

This year’s lineup includes a trio of customized Tucson crossovers, a pair of high-performance Genesis Coupes and a heavily modified Veloster Turbo R-Spec. Tackling the Tucsons this year were Bisimoto Engineering, JP and Rockstar Performance Garage while ARK Performance and Tjin Edition gave their respective spins on the Genesis Coupe. Longtime Hyundai partner, Blood Type Racing tackled the Veloster Turbo R-Spec project.

Starting with the Bisimoto Engineering Tucson, the talented team took its fourth Hyundai build and created over 700 horsepower from the Hyundai 2.4-liter Theta II engine. Meanwhile, the JP Edition Tucson continues John Pangilinan’s tradition of blurring the lines between lifestyle and automotive. Lastly, Rockstar Performance Garage gave the Tucson some serious off-road lifeblood with massive 32-inch Mickey Thompson MTZ P3 tires while riding six inches higher than before.

Both Genesis Coupe projects focused on performance, with ARK outfitting it with the company’s own “Solus” body kit and a Rotrex supercharger to generate over 500 hp from the 3.8-liter V6 engine. Tjin Edition went a similar route, with a clean and street-inspired approach. But lurking under the hood of the Kylie Tjin Axalta green Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a Vortech supercharger tuned to over 500 hp.

The attention then turns to the Blood Type Racing Veloster Turbo R-Spec, which has been designed to look as if it has switched over to the dark side. Sporting a Carbon Black paint job, the Veloster gets red accents throughout with a more aggressive stance with new front-mounted aero canards, front splitter and rear deck spoiler. Under the hood, the 1.6-liter engine has been built to complement an upgraded turbocharger to push out – you guessed it – over 500 hp.
