This Year's LA Auto Show Won't Be About Just Cars

The Los Angeles auto show is merging with the affiliated Connected Car Expo and will be rebranded as AutoMobility LA.

The new show will run for four days and will look past the traditional auto show by introducing new exhibits that feature future mobility ideas. The event’s organizers are hoping that the new event will lead to more partnerships like the GM/Lyft deal, which originated at a meeting at least year’s show.

“AutoMobility LA is the natural evolution of what we’ve already been doing — it is a platform where the industry can learn and connect, while also remaining a proven stage for global auto reveals and game-changing announcements,” said Lisa Kaz, CEO of the L.A. Auto Show.

On the actual media days of the AutoMobility show, the time will be divided in half, with the mornings going to traditional automaker product reveals and the afternoons devoted to press conferences from tech companies and expert panels.

    Oh great, a "mobility" show, just what I want to cover. I wonder if it will include buses, rollerblades, electric scooters or even crutches, all of which are "mobility" options?
