Porsche Cayenne Coupe Spied With Electrified Powertrain

Although it looks like a Porsche Panamera, this vehicle is believed to be a mule for the upcoming Cayenne Coupe.

This isn’t the first time spy photographers have caught the mule testing, but this time we get better photos that show more of what the German automaker is testing. The Cayenne Coupe is going to compete with the BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and the upcoming Range Rover Sport Coupe in a segment that’s growing with more entries.

While engines and transmissions will most likely be borrowed from the existing Cayenne, this particular prototype was testing an electrified powertrain as spy photographers never heard any normal engine noise while it was roaming about in the cold.

There’s a possibility an all-electric version is in the works, based on the technology in the Mission E, Porsche’s upcoming EV set to compete with the Tesla Model S. This prototype could also bee a hybrid version operating in all-electric mode.

To further prove that it’s an electrified vehicle, you can see all the electric warning stickers on the mule. Since this is just a Panamera body being used, expect styling to more closely resemble the Cayenne when the model debuts.
