These days, 0-60 mph times are just ridiculous.

In the pursuit to appease customers and offer more performance, automakers have achieved some downright insane acceleration times. Your average performance car will do the 0-60 dash in under 4 seconds now – levels of performance that were previously reserved for the upper echelon of supercars. There’s nothing that could hold a candle to this insane trike powered by compressed water and driven by an equally maniacal Frenchman, though.

The trike is basically a tank of compressed water attached to a custom built frame. The forks and handlebars look to be from a motorcycle and the rear tyres are from a go-kart. In a recent test run, rider Francois Gissy piloted the trike to an insane top speed of 261 km/h. More impressive than the top speed was the acceleration: 0-62 mph happened in just 0.55 seconds, with the rider pulling a downright dangerous 5.1 G. It covered 60 feet in just 0.852 seconds – similar performance to a Top Fuel Dragster.

You can watch Gissy’s wild run on his water trike embedded above. You won’t want to miss it.
