Different versions of the Lamborghini Aventador are on the way, according to Lamborghini’s chief commercial officer, Federico Foschini.

Speaking to CarAdvice.com.au, Foschini said the automaker is working on different variants of the Aventador that will arrive before the V12 supercar is replaced by a new model in 2020. He refused to elaborate, joking that some within Lamborghini would be supremely angry with him if he let any more info slip.

“I don’t want Aventador to die, honestly. I love it” he said. “The time will have to come – let’s say it will be soon, but not too soon – and there are still a few more surprises to come with Aventador. But I can’t tell you any more or someone will kill me.”

So far, Lamborghini has made a remarkable amount of different Aventador models. There’s the Aventador Roadster, Aventador J (of which just two were made), Aventador SV and SV Roadster, Aventador S and S Roadster, Aventador 50 Anniversario and 50 Anniversario Roadster and the Aventador-based Veneno and Centenario. We’re having trouble imagining what else Lamborghini could possibly do to its v12 flagship that it hasn’t already done.

Foschini also shared some info on the Aventador’s replacement. Some might have you believe that automakers must start relying on turbochargers or hybrid systems to meet emissions regulations, but Lamborghini isn’t buying it. Foschini said the automaker remains committed to naturally aspirated engines and won’t use turbochargers or hybrid tech to pull more performance from its cars. Oh, and the Urus SUV doesn’t count – that’s a product with a much different ethos than its supercars.

“In a world where everybody was switching to turbo because it’s the easiest way to get power and noise reduction, we were working very hard on the naturally aspirated engine,” Foschini said.
