The next-generation Mercedes-Benz GLS will ride on Mercedes’ new Modular High Architecture platform, which is an improved version of the MRA platform found in a number of rear-wheel drive-based Mercedes products. There will also be a number of semi-autonomous driving features.

Under the hood will be Mercedes’ 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which makes well over 500 horsepower in some applications. Mercedes’ 48V starter-alternator, a system it hopes to eventually integrate into every vehicle it sells, will join the eight-cylinder engine in the luxury SUV. will have full details on the new Mercedes-Maybach GLS following its expected debut next month.
