The Opel Adam is unlikely to head to the U.S. as a Buick model.

Buick is looking to expand the bottom end of its lineup.

General Motors unveiled its brand-new family of Ecotec small-displacement engines at its Powertrain Headquarters in Pontiac, Mich. this morning. The lineup will include 11 separate powerplants in both three- and four-cylinder configurations.

General Motors unveiled its 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine bound initially for the Opal Adam city car ahead of its Frankfurt Motor Show debut. 

Back in July, Vauxhall introduced its new subcompact ADAM model which will makes its official global debut at the upcoming 2012 Paris Motor Show. To celebrate its launch, the automaker teamed up with three designers to give the world a taste of personalized ADAMs.

Ahead of its official debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Vauxhall has released images of its new urban compact ADAM, sparking speculation that it could be heading to America as a Buick model.
