Apple wants to dominate more than just your radio screen, it seems. At the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple showed off concepts of a much, much more expansive CarPlay setup.

Apple CarPlay redefined in-car convenience when it launched back in 2014, transforming the car’s factory infotainment system by seamlessly connecting it to your iPhone. Suddenly, you could bring your own favorite navigation app to the big screen, rather than having to stare at your phone’s much smaller display or settle for whatever nav system was installed in your car by the manufacturer. Likewise, full control of your favorite multimedia apps – software like Spotify, Pandora, and Audible – were now just a few taps away.

If you’re looking to upgrade your Mazda with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, or if the lack of that feature has steered you away from models without, then Mazda has some news you’ll be interested in. They’re offering the upgrade for more vehicles and they’re available now.

A new report from Bloomberg indicates Toyota may add Android Auto to its vehicles, with the automaker saying it acknowledges the high demand for the system from its customers. 

Apple CarPlay is revered by many and it’s easy to see why, allowing users to essentially display their phone’s content on their in-car digital display. 

BMW says it would like to charge owners $80 a year to use Apple CarPlay, rather than offering it to them as a regular, one time payment option.

The 2017 model year MINI lineup is getting new equipment and high-tech features.

Ford will be the fastest of all automakers in rolling out Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Hyundai is offering a free upgrade that includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration for select models.

Hyundai owners are now able to upgrade their infotainment systems for free to get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
