“Alexa show me deals on the Ford Focus Electric, Fusion Energi and Fusion C-Max Energi,” because those are the first cars from Fords fleet that will offer integration with Amazon’s Alexa digital assistant.

Ford is lopping $4,000 off the entry price of the Fusion Energi, a plug-in hybrid version of the Fusion sedan that will now sell for $34,525, including destination but not including government incentives.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has approved the Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid for its carpool lane access program, helping the American automaker join Toyota at the top of the list with the most 2013 vehicles qualified for the HOV lane decal.

The Ford Fusion Energi is the plug-in hybrid variant of the brand’s newest midsize sedan and the EPA has just announced a total range of 620 miles, and an all-electric range of 21 miles.

The 2013 Ford Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid has now earned the honor of being America’s most fuel-efficient sedan with its EPA-estimated 108 MPGe city rating, besting the Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid by 5 MPGe.

When the plug-in hybrid version of Ford’s Fusion hits dealerships, it will do so with a $39,495 base price tag, before tax credits and delivery charges.

Ford is setting new records for fuel economy (and style) in the mid-size sedan segment with the debut of the new 2013 Fusion today at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Available with three gasoline engines, including a 37 mpg highway 1.6-liter EcoBoost, a Fusion Hybrid will deliver 47 mpg city and 44 mpg highway. Taking fuel economy a step further will be a plug-in hybrid with 100 mpge.

In a press conference that clearly targeted the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, Ford said consumers “expect more” than what its Japanese rivals have been offering and have, in response, developed the all new 2013 Fusion sedan. The car was unveiled today at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
