Aluminum is moving into the auto industry in a big way, and Ford is embracing it. 

Ford’s Lincoln division is in a state of flux. This storied luxury brand has been neglected for decades but executives in Dearborn are finally starting to give it some attention. But don’t expect any drastic styling changes as they work to reinvent this brand.

Lincoln is getting ready to take the wraps off a new Navigator, and today the brand released teaser images of its latest SUV. 

The side part is cool again. Skinny ties, narrow lappels and closely cut clothes make the man, albeit with much less cigarette smoking.

Lincoln has already admitted that it will not be pursuing a halo car for some time, and that the brand is taking aim at larger volume segments first and foremost. A luxury crossover is the first step in the plan. 

This week’s subject for AutoGuide’s Five-Point Inspection is the Lincoln MKT. It comes standard with a 3.7-liter V6, but our tester came equipped with Ford’s EcoBoost twin-turbo V6, which is EPA rated at 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. The base price is $45,285, while a fully loaded version can reach up to $50,780.
