Compact luxury-crossovers are BIG business these days and two of the movers and shakers in this fast-growing segment are the Lexus NX and Mercedes-Benz GLC.

The recently unveiled Mercedes-Benz GLC will get an AMG Sport variant for the 2017 model year, adding more power, a sportier suspension and more aggressive styling to the GLK replacement.

The boxy GLK SUV proved to be a hit for Mercedes-Benz, so its GLC successor will have some big shoes to fill.

Mercedes has introduced the second generation of its entry level compact crossover, giving it a new powertrain, new technologies, a new design and even a new name.

The next Mercedes-Benz model will debut June 17.

It seems as though BMW’s X6 has developed a following in certain parts of the world and may just have created a whole new segment after all. Already we’ve seen Acura jump into the mix, with the ZDX. Now, it appears as though Mercedes will follow with a new model, that Auto Zeitung reports, will be called the Geländecoupé – or GLC for short.
