BMW M135i Hot-Hatch Caught Testing in Spy Photos

The BMW M135i concept was  teasing us at the Geneva Motor Show, as BMW would not confirm if it was going to become a production car. Now, we know it will be put into production, and we caught the hot hatch in our  spy photos out testing on the Nurburgring in Germany. 

The BMW M135i will get its power from an I-6 turbocharged engine that will make roughly 330 hp and 370 lb.-ft. of torque. An optional all wheel drive setup will also be offered on the M135i, and a choice of manual or automatic transmissions. The car may also have  a diesel option as well, following in the footsteps of the X5 M50d, and the X6 M50d.

BMW M Division Reveals Details on Future Products
BMW‘s M division president Friedrich Nitschke has revealed some new details regarding the line of future M products.

First, the BMW M135i concept unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show is confirmed for production, offering a turbocharged six-cylinder powerplant mated to a choice of manual or automatic transmissions. What’s more, optional all-wheel drive is offered as well. Unfortunately, the M135i will be out of reach for the North American market.

BMW M135i Spied Running the Nurburgring – Video

The BMW M135i is undoubtedly making its way to production form for the European market soon. The M135i Concept gave us a look at the performance variant of the 1-Series hatchback, and it appears that the German automaker has taken it out to the ‘Ring for testing.

The M135i is expected to launch late this year in Europe packing a turbocharged 3.0L, straight-six with more than 300-hp. And if the M135i is anything like the 1M Coupe that America got, it should be a huge hit considering how quickly the order books closed on one of our favorite sports coupes ever tested.
