Corvette Now Offering Build Your Own Engine Option for Z06, ZR1 Customers

In what it calls, “the world’s most hands-on supercar program,” Chevrolet will now let buyers of Z06 and ZR1 models opt to build their own Corvette engine. Priced at a rather significant $5,800 it’s not an unreasonable price, considering a team of skilled technicians watch over the entire process.

Once the Engine Build Experience option is chosen, the details are arranged by a special concierge. While buyers are still responsible for their transportation to and from the General Motors Performance Build Center (PBC) in Wixom, Mich. as well as their own lodging, Chevy will assist in the process and will also help arrange other activities during the build process.

And because the LS7 and LS9 engines built at the PBC are all personally signed by the individual who assembled them, the owner of the car will proudly be able to show off the special engine nameplate bearing his or her name. Now that’s what we call personalization.

Better yet, all Engine Build Experience motors are covered by Chevrolet’s five year / 100,000-mile transferable powertrain warranty.

The new Engine Build Experience option is just the latest program that Chevy offers to Corvette owners, with other ownership benefits including a tour of the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, delivery of their car at the Corvette Museum and a complimentary class (for ZR1 buyers) at either the on Fellows’ Corvette Performance Driving School just outside Las Vegas or the Bob Bondurant’s Corvette Driving School in Arizona

“Simply put, no other sports car manufacturer can match the level of personal customer involvement that Corvette offers,” Campbell said. “The Corvette Engine Build Experience takes this personal involvement to an unprecedented level.”
