The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Is The Most Powerful P-Car Ever

Porsche’s latest high-performance powerhouse, the Taycan Turbo GT, starts at $231,995, including $1,995 for destination (not that the folks buying will notice). At the very least, buyers will be getting all of the Taycan for their money. The high-performance EV uses a dual-motor all-wheel drive system and a two-speed gearbox to deliver 1,092 horsepower and 988 pound-feet of torque. But, like other models in the Taycan range, that figure is only available in a special drive mode called Attack Mode. Otherwise, the driver will have to make do with only 777 hp and a full complement of Porsche wizardry to navigate their local track day.

With the full power output in use, Porsche claims 0–60 in mph 2.2 seconds (2.1 with the Weissach package offered on GT-branded Porsches). The extra power was also enough to set some serious lap times. The Taycan Turbo GT ran the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7:07.55 (w/ Weissach pack) and holds an EV lap record at Laguna Seca (1:27.87).

Evidently, the car’s Weissach package is for serious track work. It lightens up the Taycan by ditching the rear seats, and replacing them with a carbon fiber storage box intended for… whatever it is rich folk carry with them. A host of other items are also left on the factory floor in the name of weight savings, including the rear speakers, the Sport Chrono pack’s clock, the floor mats, and one of two exterior charging ports.

Additional lightweighting comes in the form of 21-inch forged wheels alongside carbon-ceramic brakes. The latter uses a lighter caliper design to reduce unsprung mass. Aero changes include a new front splitter and fixed rear wing, as well as some air deflectors under the car, pushing total downforce at 485 pounds. Porsche says that the Purple Sky Metallic seen here will be one of six standard colors, in addition to the usual Paint to Sample options.
