From the “America, F*** Yeah” department comes Ford’s announcement that they’ve been honored by the Department of Defense, for committing to the needs of American troops.

Ford was one of fifteen companies shortlisted for the 2011 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, with six nominations from its employees who also serve in the military. “Ford makes service to our country much easier. From senior leadership all they way down the ladder, they understand the necessity of the citizen soldier and the difficulties their loved ones face as a result of their commitment,” says Todd Brooks, a Ford employee currently in the Navy Reserve.

Ford employs more than 700 people listed on active duty with the National Guard, and offers benefits for both active-duty and veteran employees, such as offering differential pay for workers currently serving overseas, as well as working closely with the Disabled American Veterans foundation. Freedom isn’t free, but it’s delivered in the back of a Super Duty.
