Impressive Porsche Collection Heading to Auction
One of the world’s finest private collection of Porsches will be heading to Amelia Island to be auctioned off. The collection is so impressive that Gooding & Company has moved the start time of the auction to 11 a.m. in order to accommodate the 18-car collection.
The Drendel Family Collection of Porsches consists of both street-legal and track cars from 1973 to 1997. Eleven of the 18 will be offered without a reserve, though the best picks, which include a 1973 Porsche 917/30 Can-Am Spyder, will retain a minimum sale price.
If your budget isn’t able to accommodate such extravagance, there are still plenty of no-reserve picks available, including a 1980 Porsche 924 Carrera GT Le Mans, 1980 Porsche Indy Car and a 1987 McLaren-Porsche MP4/3 Formula One.
The Amelia Island Auction will take place on March 9, beginning at 11 a.m. The estimated range of these Porsches span from $30,000 to upwards of $4-million, making this quite a collection to say the least.
“The result of well-developed connoisseurship and deep passion, Matthew Drendel built what has become the world’s most significant private collection of turbocharged Porsches,” said David Gooding, President and founder of Gooding & Company.
“It’s a very rare occurrence when a refined, single-marque collection of high-quality road and race cars is offered to the public. We feel privileged to have been selected to present the Drendel Family Collection in Amelia Island.”
