Toyota has added the 2010 Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h to the list of vehicles recalled for a gas pedal that has the potential to become trapped under the floor mats.

The manufacturer recalled 3.8 million vehicles in 2009 for the same issue after a summer of headlines dominated by claims of unintended acceleration.

The Japanese manufacturer has developed its own repair for the issue and owners of the affected vehicles will receive notice in the mail starting in August. The recall effects 131,800 Lexus RX 350 crossovers and 22,200 of the hybrid model. Only the 2010 model is being added to the recall.

I think it's time Toyota looked into having anchors or velcro to hold down floor mats just like what BMW has. This way if the gas pedal becomes trapped under the floor mat, almost all the time it will be a case of poor installation by the driver or dealership.
