There will be no model made to slot under the Boxster (pictured above) in terms of price or size according to Bernhard Maier, head of Porsche sales and marketing.

Depending on your car budget, that could having feeling disappointed or relieved. It seems Porsche isn’t willing to sacrifice its status symbol image to step into volume sales territory, something curent clients will probably approve of.

“To build a Porsche for 30,000 euros currently doesn’t fit our brand,” he told Automotive News. “The extraordinary purchase experience is not for free and the entry price is currently covered with the Boxster and in the future by the Macan.”

Despite not feeling friendly to offering a cheaper convertible sports car, the company still plans to sell 200,000 cars per year by 2018, which is an ambitious goal considering its 117,000 figure last year.

Considering the Cayenne’s success, it might not be such a stretch, though if the Macan takes off.
