Back in July, we heard that a 2001 Audi R8 Le Mans Prototype race car would be heading to RM Auctions out in Monterey. Now that auction has come and gone, and the R8 Le Mans Prototype has sold for $1,034,000.

The Audi R8 Le Mans Prototype sale was part of a record-setting RM Auctions event. Joining the R8 was a 1968 Ford GT40 Gulf/Mirage that sold for $11 million, making it the highest price paid for an American automobile sold at an auction. In total, seven cars were sold for over $1 million making it one of the most successful RM Auctions ever.
