The Infiniti Emerg-E debuted earlier this year at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, capturing the world’s attention with a mid-mounted driveline and a pair of electric motors.

Even though it’s still a concept car, the Japanese automaker brought a functional version of it out to this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, proving that Infiniti is indeed trying to conduct a study to bring the Emerg-E to reality. All of its efforts paid off, as the Emerg-E was announced as the winner in the Concepts category of the 2012 Automotive Brand Contest.

The prestigious award from the German Design Council will be presented in Paris on September 28th at the Mondial de L’Automobile and recognizes “excellence and innovation in product design, and celebrates the brand’s fresh, fluent design approach, expressed in the highly aerodynamic curves of the Infiniti Emerg-E.”

The Emerg-E is the first Infiniti to be developed in Europe, in partnership with the UK government’s Technology Strategy Board initiative. It will be interesting to see if Infiniti does indeed produce a halo model based on the Emerg-E in the near future.
