The Kia Cadenza will reportedly make its official production debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, marking the brand’s foray into the premium segment.

A renamed version of the K7 model sold in Korea, when the American Cadenza makes its debut, it will feature minor changes to its exterior styling in addition to a revised interior compared to the K7. Kia is hoping its new full-size sedan will compete head-on with cars like the Acura RL and the Toyota Avalon.

The front-wheel drive sedan is actually slightly longer than a BMW 5-Series, though it is narrower. Based on the same platform as the Hyundai Azera, the Cadenza will mostly likely be powered by the same 3.3-liter V6 found with 293 hp. The Korean automaker is expected to announce official specifications and availability on the Cadenza once it makes its debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
