BMW’s smallest rear-wheel drive range was just spied testing in the Swedish snow.

When the cars reach production, they will replace the current 1 Series, which will move to share a platform with MINI to have a front-wheel drive configuration.

It’s the same strategy that BMW is employing by splitting its product line by moving the 3 Series coupes and convertibles to its new 4 Series name.

Are you sure this is accurate? From what I have been reading in other posts and judging by the current 1er hatchback being RWD I don't see why BMW will make the 2 series a FWD, plus it is speculated that the next generation of the 1 series (meaning the third generation) will be FWD sharing plataform with the mini, Also the 1GT might be FWD but saying that the all new sports oriented 2 series is going to be FWD is a lazy research.
