Production on the 2014 Dodge Durango will start in August and should be hitting dealerships by October with an updated look and a new 8-speed automatic.

The facelifted Durango will likely get a similar list of changes as the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee: eight-speed automatic transmissions, UConnect 2, large-screen telematics, user-changeable digital dash, new headlights, new taillights and a new tailgate.

Less likely is a diesel option for the Durango, though rumor has it that the American automaker’s “racetrack” taillights could make an appearance on the SUV.

It is expected that production of the 2014 Durango will be kept light compared with the Grand Cherokee.
