Last year, Nissan helped to field the radical Delta Wing race car at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and this year the brand is returning with a new creation that Nissan is teasing in a recently released video.

The new LMP1 contender will be entered in Garage 56, which is reserved for experimental vehicles – the same place the Delta Wing was in last year. The video reveals little, though its title is more telling.

It’s called “Electrying Le Mans!” suggesting that this new car will use electricity for propulsion in some way. As a leader in EVs when it comes to consumer cars, Nissan also has experience racing EVs with the NISMO Leaf (seen above) that runs in the Super GT EV League in Japan. Nissan says that the new car is built around the principles of innovation and excitement.

The new experimental race car will be revealed at 10:30am (CEST) on Friday, 21 June, 2013.
